A postal walk!

The ranch is located at the end of Noble Co. Rd. A dirt road that turns off the main road at the Cora Post office and the ranch is about a mile and a half away and essentially the end of the road.
I decided to walk to the post office and encouraged Channa to join me... I had been telling her my plan since we arrived and on the third day I finally said I was going to go.... I had intended to leave earlier in the day but since that had past I was going anyway!... It was very hot!...
What were we going to do about the kids though... I figured I'm not trying to beat any time records just let them come with us.

Caleb and Miles were a thanks but no thanks... Sarah, Kenzie and Duncan opted to walk as far as the actual driveway and then they turned to return to the living room and some cartoons. Cooper and Derek.... not knowing I guess what was ahead... trudged along! What Troopers! We weren't gone long before Channa started to carry Derek... Cooper and I were singing and walking though and he didn't seem to be fazed by much...

Halfway up the road Channa spied some shade from some willow bushes and sat with the boys thinking she'd just rest there and wait for me to finish up at the post office, since we did have some things to mail. Willows typically grow where there is water... and the irrigation ditch on the side of the road was no exception. The mosquitoes were too incessant and she opted to continue rather than deal with the bugs... We made it to the post office and took care of our business and we prepared for our return... Channa was completely dumbfounded that I didn't call for a ride at that point... but we were half way and had rested a bit at the mail.... I agreed to carry Derek this time! He was tuckered and happily rested his head on my shoulder as we plodded on.

We were half way back when we saw a truck approaching with Tina, James and Patrick on their way into town... they called for the rescue squad much to Channa's relief... but the squad arrived... maybe two minutes later on 'four wheelers'.... I wasn't too sure what Channa would say... she had made it clear she wasn't planning to let her boys or herself ride on those... I guess I broke her resolve when I exhausted her! Fortunately the drivers agreed to go slowly and she must have enjoyed it a bit because she was willing to try them again the next day.

Cooper never complained about the walk... or even showed signs of being tired later because of it, he may be the next to climb Mount Everest or something... he has some STAMINA! But he won't be taking his mother!
