BSA Mascots

Someone is just too cute for his britches.
He is pleased to be the caboose of a full steam ahead train of Scouters.

Their favourite part of scouting with Mummy as a scout leader is holing up in a small classroom with a movie and popcorn while I teach my monthly scout leaders class.
Who wouldn't want to be a scout with these perks?

I Want...

During a moment of upset and tantrum, Whittaker was whining excessively and screaming about the injustices heaped upon him.... something like,

"I don't want to be in the corner, I don't want to eat that food, I want what I like, I want my way...."

Without skipping a beat, I began,

"I want peace and quiet, I want the house to tidy itself, I want my talk already prepared for my meeting, I want a good night's sleep, I want a cook and a maid and personal shopper, and I want more money than I ever have to worry about, I want more time in the day than anyone else..."

Sarah caught on,

"I want my math classes to be over and passed, I want the vacuum I have to carry at work not to be so heavy, I want all the dishes to be self cleaning, I want a new skirt and pants and a cute bolero jacket, I want new highlights in my hair, I want a bigger faster computer to do school on, I want seminary to not be soo early in the morning...."

Cooper also chimed in,

"I want world peace, I want to end childhood hunger, I want children not to whine and complain when I am near by, I want them to stay off my bed and out of my special things box, I want to read my books all day, I want the garbages to empty themselves, I want winter to really come and give us ten feet of snow, I want to know the mysteries of the universe, I want to discover an incredible archaeological wonder, I want to have dessert tonight..."

Since we were all talking at the same time and having a difficult time not laughing at each others' list of 'Wants'... we were startled when Whittaker began screaming a different complaint.

"Stop acting like me!"

At least he's aware?!??

Emotersons

This sweet boy seems to be in touch with his emotions.  He frequently discusses his mood.  "I happy", "I sad", "I silly", "I angry".  All emotions discussions tend to end up with giggles.  He is quick to tell me when we are out running errands how others are feeling... such as, "That baby sad".  "He angry"... especially noted when he calls out "HELLO" to passerbyer's and they do not reply.

Costco is an excellent locale for emotion watching with Emerson... our Emoterson.  There are hurried shoppers, tired cashiers, happy food demonstrators and annoyed food demonstrators and at the end there is always a receipt checker at the exit happy to give out a happy face once they've checked your basket and receipt. However we're not always all happy to be leaving Costco...

Upon receiving the receipt from the checker, Emerson burst into tears.  "I angry not happy"
The receipt checker was confused and we moved on to the van.

Our next visit to Costco I was more prepared.  I asked Emoterson how he was feeling before we approached the exit so I could ask for the appropriate emoticon face for our receipt.  It took some sweet talking to ask the checker to PLEASE make it an angry face.

Oddly enough all the way to the van, clutching the receipt with the angry face so that it wouldn't blow away, Emoterson repeated over and over.  His face showing great expression with each emotion.
"My angry face.  I happy!"

Spring Conference Easter Break

When Spring Break is the same long weekend as Easter and the same long weekend as General Conference.... this is what happens.

Our Easter eggs get pictures of Prophets and apostles. (thanks pinterest) The candy eating is spread out over two full days, since they can't be opened until that person speaks.

The following statements may have been made over the two days.
-Can I eat Holland yet?
-Is this guy an egg?
-Did you eat Oaks yet?
-What candy did Packer give you?
-What should I do with Ballard?  He didn't talk.
-I don't think it's this guy, he's wearing a blue tie and the guy on my egg is wearing a black tie.
-He got old after they took his picture.
-They talked so long my chocolate melted.

I had to come up with an idea for the cub scouts to make for mother's day next month.  I found this idea of an 'I love it when...' message board.

We've had a lot of messages shared over the last few days...
these were the nicest.

Some were, I love it when...
- you come when you are called.
- you do what you say.
- you help chop onions.
- you don't roll your eyes.
- when you get up the first time you're called.
- you use the potty.
- it's bedtime.
- Sarah bakes.

Perhaps we need to leave this one for a while.

Some spent the weekend lounging.... like always!

A Real Man

I'm sure these are logical at some level... to someone... maybe.

~I can't wear this bandage on my ear... I can't feel like a real man... It makes me feel nervous.

~My tummy isn't tired it is hungry and it's keeping my whole body awake until it gets a sandwich.

~After discovering that Emerson had dumped the contents of baby powder out all over the bathroom, everyone came for a look... Needing to clean it up without so many extra hands and feet in the way I in frustration yelled, "Everyone out!"... Whittaker burst into tears... "You don't want me in the family, in your home.... out of your life!!!"  Who says girl's are the dramatic ones!?
