I'm intrigued by the love languages concept. Over the years I've gained an understanding of some of my children's love languages. They can have multiple. Take for example, Caleb.
Caleb likes gifts. Caleb likes words. Caleb likes time together. Caleb likes to relax and play games. Caleb likes good food. Caleb likes to have his visits validated with blog posts in a timely manner!
So.. without giving too much away for the soon and much anticipated Phase 3 post, here is last weekends visit post from Caleb.. oh, also Channa and Derek came. (I began the post while he was driving home, but then was called away for some Phase 3 tasks.. and then a week went by and I sat to work on it.. and then... well.. Phase 3 has been relentless)
Work on phase 3 happened.

Caleb joined the list of casualties of construction.

Food was consumed.. lots of yummy food. Peach cobbler, scalloped potatoes, rutabaga fries (turns out they were turnip fries!), burgers, home made ice cream, apple fritter french toast, cookies.. and cookies... mmm... we ate!

Games were played. Indoor, card games were squeezed in whenever the 'boss' wasn't looking.
Outside, they found entertainment on the jobsite!
We played the Dominion game that the boys secretly received for their birthday. We practiced for weeks before Caleb's anticipated arrival. We were determined to beat him. However, the first game in, Patrick joined us. (He never played in all the weeks of our practicing and conspiring and strategizing. He either built the house or went to bed early.) We gave up sleep so we could practice, unable to play until the sun went down and work could no longer happen on the house. First night of Caleb's visit, we acquiesced to play a game. Patrick joined... AND WON!! the bum.
We played a few more times over the next few days when we could squeeze it in.. never letting on to Caleb that we were 'professionals'. We did manage to win, but it wasn't the landslide that we had hoped for. We confessed as Caleb was packing up to leave.

Jim's pre-birthday celebrating began. His birthday would be three days after their departure so we had a birthday feast while they were here. (We had another three days later also). Whittaker and Emerson graciously supplied the birthday hat.

And as I mentioned... Channa and Derek also came...
..this sums up Channa's entire stay. Her purpose in coming was to chip away at a mountain of AirCooled paperwork and taxes.
We really do need to finish the construction. Midway into Phase 3, the entire contents of the pantry are strewn about the house.. extra freezers and a 2nd fridge. Extra couches and chairs are shoved up against each other. Tools and building supplies are normal pathways in the house. In the process of creating more useable space we are living in much smaller quarters. And then we added extra people. The hourly comment, "Build another bathroom Patrick!" is becoming less and less of a joke.
